Happy Wednesday

It's been one of those days today...working away in the studio...designing new dollies for my offering on Ebay Sunday evening and my gallery offerings on the 14th.

I did work a little bit on Betsy's dress...I just did not like the way her collar was laying and decided to give her a gathered neckline instead. I am pleased with the way this fits her now....What do you think?

I had an opportunity to spend the day with my sweet grandson Sawyer, Saturday while his Mom and Dad ran errands. We had such a good time together. He's rolling over now and CANNOT get enough of his hand in his mouth at one time. ha ha He got hold of my knuckle and I do believe there are little teeth getting ready to pop through already. Here's my little bug!

Wishing you many blessings....Susan

A day of relaxation!!

I love Fridays...I always try to get as much done as possible during the week so I can have Friday for myself. I rented the HBO mini series - John Adams from Netflix. Have you seen it? If you love period movies, then this is one for your 'to watch" list. The colonial reproductions and settings are marvelous! Talk about bringing history to life. This was very well done and I admit, I was brought to tears a few times reliving the passion of our founding fathers as they embarked on the American Revolution. Not to mention, the wonderful love story between John and Abigail Adams, played by Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney! I am definitely going to read the novel now.

Other than that, it's been a very nice and relaxing day at the Walker home. Pups and I went for a walk this morning and a short walk this afternoon too. I hope you have had a wonderful day today and wish you a blessed weekend....Susan

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood....

Wow...I woke up this morning to overcast skies and thought for sure we would be getting rain. To my surprise (and enjoyment) the sun has decided to break through the clouds and shine, shine, shine!

We had the most wonderful surprise yesterday. Our grandbaby came to visit for a few hours. Of course, Mom and Dad had to drive him, so we got to hug their necks too, but those baby snuggles....mmmmmm! Sawyerbug sure is growing up fast...it's such a miracle to see how much he changes in just a few short weeks. Here's my snugglebug sleeping on my shoulder...oh yeah...I've still got the Mama touch. Two seconds on Gramma's shoulder and he's out! haha

Look at my little bichon baby, Prissy! She snuggled up with us and took a little nap too. :-)

I did get through most of my list yesterday...I think I might need to make a to-do list every day to keep myself on track. How about you? What do you use to help you stay on track?

Today's to-do list:

sew and stuff new dollie
sign up for Dixie Redmond's Izannah Walker Workshop YEAH!!
Package and ship my lovely Ellie to her new forever home
more laundry (ugh)
work on my new valentine pin idea - not sure about the logistics of this project yet.

That's enough for one day, right? Wishing you a happy and blessed day today...Susan

Monday, January 18, 2010

Okay, I admit it...I've typed and written 2009 about 1,000 times in the past 18 days!! How about you? I'm sure it will become second nature to write 2010 at some point, but for now... #@!()&*@#&@*&@((#! :-)

I need a to-do list today to get all my projects finished, so here goes:

-call Mom and Dad
-clean up studio (a definite must - and I think I might need the shop vac this time)
-give the rest of the house a good cleaning (I've been 'living' in the studio these past two weeks and it's been totally ignored.)
-dig out the book with the basketweave stitch for my friend
-get my sketchbook out and begin thinking about my next dollie
-journal, journal, journal
-figure out something for dinner - Grandbaby Sawyer is coming over tonight - :-)

Okay..that's enough for now...there are only so many hours in the day, right? haha

I have a new dollie on Ebay this week. Bella is the next Valentine dollie in my Spring series. I'm loving the colors in her dress...not your traditional pink or red, but definitely romantic. :-) What do you think?

Have a wonderfully, blessed day today...Hugs..Susan

Just a couple of new Dollies to share

Here are pics of the two new dollies I wrote about yesterday. I have one more Valentine piece to finish for Ebay and I hope to have her ready to go by Tuesday. Time just slipped away from me this weekend. :-)

If you want to visit me on Ebay, click on either picture above and you'll be able to pop right over!

I hope to be able to do a little 'blog hopping' tonight to get caught up on what's been happening in your neck of the woods! Stay warm and be blessed...Susan

January 9, 2010

Hello there...didn't want you to think I'd forgotten you! I've been working away in the studio this week and have a couple of very sweet Valentine dolls that I hope to share with you Sunday evening on Ebay.

Thanks to a good friend of mine, I learned how to crochet this winter. My friend Aimee came over one day and said "We're going to learn to crochet!" and just like that I had a book "I Taught Myself to Crochet" complete with hooks and instructions. We got busy learning some granny squares first. I have to tell you, the first challenge was learning to read a crochet pattern! Have you ever tried to do this? It was like learning another language. After a lot of trial and error, some Googling and some friendly advice from an experience crocheter, we figured it out. Then we found all these great free patterns on the yarn websites...what a treasure! Aimee and I both started out with the ambitious goal of making an afghan and I'm happy to report we have both made several afghans now. My children all received handmade afghans for their dorms and apartments as part of their Christmas gifts this year. I've also delved into the patterns for slippers and have made several pair for family and friends. Working in 3-d was another whole ballgame, but I worked through it. (I have a couple of 'reject' pair that I kept for myself. lol) Maybe knitting will be next on the creativity agenda?!

Okay...my paint is dry so it's time to get back to work...until tomorrow...Wishing you many blessings, Susan
